   WHO AM I ? WHAT AM I?

Nicholas John Hills: Scientifically, I'm not that much different from you, or the person across from you. We share a DNA sequence 99.5% similar to each other, our bodies are composed of around 60% water, and we will most likely die of heart disease, stroke or a COPD. However, the variation expressed in that 0.5% is astonishing! We witness it every minute of our existence. Within that miniscule percentile, I differ in the following ways: I have an 18 stitched, Y-shaped scar above my right eyebrow, I sometimes take freezing cold showers in the morning, some days I will fast, and, I have another small scar located at the posterior of my palate from when a toothbrush was lodged in my throat! The experiences, stories and perspectives that accumulate through each individual's life are ultimately what defines us, and makes us unique and interesting. I don't have anything significant or exciting to report about my childhood from years 0 to 19. Nothing of substance or life changing or defining. I do have fond memories of camping and bushwalking in Australia with my Dad, and of family feasts with the Italian side of the family.

This blog serves to highlight my travels, photography and film, notable events, fitness, cooking, college and other...

I had never traveled overseas in my life, until in 2012, I accepted a Soccer Scholarship in the United States to study in Upstate New York at a small, liberal arts college, Hartwick. Since then, my eyes have been opened wide. By having greater access to the world from the 'hub' of the United States as opposed to the isolated Australia, I have been able to travel; around the U.S., visit Canada, fly to Puerto Rico, attend the World Cup in Brazil, and backpack through Argentina, Bolivia and Peru.

Life is a struggle. It is immensely beautiful. It is insanely complex. It is thus, so, that I lack the sagacity to know what I want to do when I graduate. I will come out after 5 years of tertiary education with a Bachelor of Arts in Geology and Biology, and a minor in Environmental Science and Policy. So a job? I would say I am actively looking for work, but wouldn't be disheartened if a job doesn't eventuate at this point in my life.

Backup plan!? I impulsively booked a $100 flight from NYC to Europe on February 7th because I can? I Figure, I will kick about for a few months in Europe, then return to the U.S. to try and catch my graduation ceremony. Then? Travel the U.S., maybe Canada? Then, onto Central America and South America.

So..Travel parameters?

Timeframe: Unknown

Budget: Unknown

Companions: Unknown

Plans: Vague

Drone: Yes!

Most of my interests are or were impulsive phases. The important ones that I have managed to indulge in for more than 3 weeks include: photography, acrobatics, soccer, a predilection to travel, reading, observing, thinking, breathing slowly, eating healthy, exercise, sleep, music, guitar, Al Jazeera news, mail deliveries, DIY, carrots, coffee food, swimming, handstands, stretching, hiking
